On November 30, 2017, the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities accepted a proposed five-year performance-based ratemaking mechanism for NSTAR Electric Company and Western Massachusetts Electric Company (Eversource). The accepted mechanism was based on input price and productivity evidence submitted by Mark Meitzen, Dennis Weisman, and Carl Degen. Although numerous intervenors opposed the performance-based ratemaking mechanism, the Commission found that the proposed plan was solidly designed and found that the evidence submitted by Meitzen, Weisman, and Degen was fundamentally sound.
